Who doesn't love a bit of Dolly Parton? She's a legend.

She is one of an elite group of individuals to receive at least one nomination from all four major annual American entertainment award organisations; Emmy, GRAMMY, Oscar, and Tony. Her songs have captured the hearts of generations.

And not just that. Inspired by her father’s inability to read and write Dolly started her Imagination Library in 1995 for the children within her home county. Today, her programme spans five countries and gifts over 1 million free books each month to children around the world.

Today a collboration was announced between Dolly and James Patterson, two legendary storytellers, to write Dolly's first novel Run, Rose, Run — and a new album has been created to complement the book.

Publication in March 2022 will coincide with the release of the new Dolly Parton album, also called Run, Rose, Run; the book will include lyrics from the album.

The novel is about a young woman who arrives in Nashville seeking to pursue her dream of stardom, but who harbours a dark secret.

Parton said: "I cannot be more excited about the release of my very first novel Run, Rose, Run with the great James Patterson. I also have a new album to go along with the book. All new songs were written based on the characters and situations in the book. I hope you enjoy the book and the songs as much as we've enjoyed putting it all together!"

Patterson said: "It's been an honour - and a hell of a lot of fun - to work with the inimitable Dolly Parton, whom I've long admired for her music, her storytelling, and her enormous generosity. The mind-blowing thing about this project is that reading the novel is enhanced by listening to the album and vice versa. It's a really unique experience that I know readers (and listeners) will love."

WE CAN'T WAIT.

Parton is the founder of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which gives books to 40,000 children a month in the UK alone.
