A new monthly feature to join our established LoveReading Blog is ‘Booky Thoughts’, we have given some of our wonderful members, who are reader reviewer ambassadors for LoveReading, the opportunity to tell us what they are currently thinking about in the world of books. The first ‘Booky Thoughts' by Clare Reynolds, 'Blogging in the Time of Corona' was a really interesting piece about blogging and sharing book love, and very much of the moment. Our second fabulous ambassador is Prisha Yadav, who is a year 5 student and adores books! She tells us what she has been up to while she can’t go to school or socialise due to the coronavirus, it, of course, involves reading, as well as helping out her neighbours, and she has included some wonderful photos too. So Prisha, over to you with your blog piece: A Book Always Helps!

We are all about sharing book love...

Name: Prisha Yadav

Bio:

Prisha Yadav has always enjoyed reading since she became a free reader at the age of 5. She joined LoveReading4Kids.co.uk as a reader reviewer in March 2017 to stimulate her passion for reading which has introduced a variety of genres and writing styles to her. She started writing her own blog in January 2018 to share her reviews and became a LoveReading4Kids ambassador in March 2019.

She is studying in year 5 and at her school, she participates in the Reading Club every week. When she is not reading, she enjoys playing music on her piano and violin. She sings regularly for Hillingdon Junior Singers and is a member of Hillingdon Repertoire Orchestra. She had won Book Reviewer of the Month April 2018 from Young Writers.

Prisha reads twice a day in the afternoon and at bedtime. At school, whenever she finishes her work early, she always grabs a book to read. She loves to read in the garden/garden room if the weather is good, otherwise on a bean bag in her room. Her favourite authors are Jacqueline Wilson and Rebecca Patterson.

A book always helps!

I have always found books useful to keep myself busy and entertained. They are helping me while I can't go outside and have to stay at home all the time.

I have a good collection of books credited to LoveReading4Kids.co.uk and other book review sites, which I received in return for an honest book review. They are helping me a lot in this tough time while isolating during COVID-19 circumstances.

Some books are full of lovely illustrations, which one can look at and get immersed in the imagination of a beautiful world.

I start my day by doing PE with Joe Wicks online followed by my school work. I take frequent breaks practising my extracurricular classes online like ballet, tap dance, practising the piano, violin, karate and LAMDA. When the weather is good, I enjoy playing and reading in the garden. I had also drawn a 'no stress' poster for my home and ‘rainbow of hope' for my window.

I have been learning life skills of compassion and kindness when my parents decided to donate food to our elderly neighbours who live alone. I had taken the responsibility of packing and delivering the essential food supplies to them. I will continue this every week until this tough time passes.

My top three recommended books to read while staying at home due to COVID-19

A Moon Girl Stole My Friend by Rebecca Patterson

Publisher: Andersen Press

Age group: 7yrs+

A Moon Girl Stole My Friend is a brilliant book filled with lovely imagination based on science fiction. I liked how the author wrote a story of a future generation where robocats, cyborgs and modern technology meet together along with real emotions of friendship and jealousy.

Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid by Rowley Jefferson

Publisher: Puffin

Age group: 7-11yrs

Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid is an interesting book full of funny illustrations as it is a biography of Greg written by his best friend Rowley Jefferson. I like how the author has made the biography fun by adding both the embarrassing and adventurous moments of friendship between Greg and himself.

The Great Brain Robbery by P.G.Bell

Publisher: Usborne Publishing Ltd

Age group: 8+

The Great Brain Robbery is an exciting book to read about a girl called Suzy who goes to a magical troll land where everyone is a troll and works as a postie. It is interesting to read how they make the track which goes to Trollville by train impossible in places. There are some interesting illustrations which I love going through in this book.

Best Wishes and Stay Safe
