Ambassador Book Buzz: The Temple House Vanishing By Rachel Donohue

Fiona Beech

By Fiona Beech on 18th November 2019

The Temple House Vanishing is released on the 6th February 2020, but we're so excited because we've had the opportunity to read and review it early! A dark mystery that gets tenser as the page numbers increase, this is a glorious debut!

Here is the synopsis:

Twenty-five years ago, a sixteen-year-old schoolgirl and her charismatic teacher disappeared without trace...

In an elite Catholic girls' boarding-school the pupils live under the repressive, watchful gaze of the nuns. Seeking to break from the cloistered atmosphere two of the students - Louisa and Victoria - quickly become infatuated with their young, bohemian art teacher, and act out passionately as a result. That is, until he and Louisa suddenly disappear.

Years later, a journalist uncovers the troubled past of the school and determines to resolve the mystery of the missing pair. The search for the truth will uncover a tragic, mercurial tale of suppressed desire and long-buried secrets. It will shatter lives and lay a lost soul to rest.

The Temple House Vanishing is a stunning, intensely atmospheric novel of unrequited longing, dark obsession and uneasy consequences.

"Burning with an intense, provocative fire, this is a debut that doesn’t flinch from the troubled world it creates." Liz Robinson, Editorial Expert

I'm always intrigued to read a book set in a convent - I went to school at one (it wasn't private though!). It's interesting to see others experiences of being taught by nuns! And there's the added bonus of a missing girl here too - it sounds most intriguing!!

The Temple House Vanishing sounds like a well-received interesting and intriguing read - the sort of book I take to bed with me intending to read a chapter before going to sleep but end up reading half the book instead. Sounds like the sort of book a few of my friends will be interested in reading when I've finished it so it would be a well-loved, well-read copy if I were lucky enough to win it.
