Faber is opening a pop-up shop in Shoreditch to celebrate the publication of Sally Rooney’s latest novel, Beautiful World, Where Are You, while Waterstones Piccadilly will host an event with the author the night before her book's release.

Located at 17 Great Eastern Street, a gallery space organised by the publisher's campaigns team in collaboration with Waterstones, the east London pop-up will sell copies of the novel as well as Rooney’s previous works, plus a selection of the author's recommended reads.

At age 30, Sally is one of the most talked-about authors of her generation. Both her first two novels reached high acclaim.

Her first novel Conversations with Friends was published in 2017 and we billed as "a searing, sometimes painful, yet fully rich and fascinating read." 21 year old student Frances, and her ex-girlfriend Bobbi are interviewed by Melissa about their spoken word performances.

And her second book Normal People is "a beautiful albeit painful story of the 4 year on-off relationship between two Irish teenagers. You feel the highs and the lows, the awkwardness yet exquisite nature of first love as well as the agony. Oh, the agony."

Published in 2018, the book sold a million copies and was picked up and aired on the BBC in 2020 as a drama series featuring Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones to widespread critical acclaim.

Both first books featured characters in late adolescence and early adulthood struggling through first relationships whilst starting to find their way in the world

This new book, Beautiful World, Where Are You is published on 7th September is being billed as "a spellbinding twenty-first-century love story." Like the other two novels, the book is set in Ireland, where Rooney grew up and still lives and if you're a Rooney fan, it won't disappoint.

The pop-up will run from 10th September to 12th September and is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. In addition to bookselling, the space will host workshops, book clubs and daily giveaways, including a calligraphy and candle-making class.

Niriksha Bharadia, marketing manager at Faber, said: "There has been huge anticipation for Beautiful World, Where Are You so we're excited to bring fans a unique experience with this pop-up. We're delighted to be partnering with Waterstones, local independent businesses and creators to celebrate this incredible novel and we look forward to welcoming readers on the 10th."

As part of the campaign, Waterstones Piccadilly will be hosting an exclusive signing on the evening before publication, where ticket-holders will hear Rooney read an excerpt from the novel. Many branches of the chain will be resurrecting their in-person book groups, relaunching with Beautiful World, Where Are You.

We'll definitely be checking it out!
