His most recent book, Naples and Napoleon: Southern Italy and the European Revolutions 1780-1860, was published in 2006. His previous publications include Gramsci and Italy's Passive Revolution; Conflict and Control: Law and Order in 19th Century Italy; and Merchants, Monopolists and Contractors: Economy and Society in Bourbon Naples 1815-60. Giovanni Capuano is a teacher and translator. His previous publications include Naples and its Environs and William Hamilton e la Rivoluzione Napoletana del 1799.
