FREDRIC BOYCE C Mech Eng pursued a career in mechanical engineering with ICI, before leaving to take up a post at the University of Oxford. He retired in 1996 and began researching SOE's intriguing wartime activities, culminating in his first book, SOE The Scientific Secrets (Sutton, 2003), co-authored with Douglas Everett. He is an accomplished glider pilot and lives near Oxford.
