Books By Christine Hiskey - Author
Christine Hiskey's interest in local history was partly inspired by childhood holidays at Burnham Overy Staithe near Holkham. After reading Modern History at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, she qualified as an archivist at Liverpool University before working for four years in the Durham County Records Office. In 1975 Christine Hiskey moved to Norfolk with her husband, and from 1977 began helping occasionally in the Holkham archives. In 1985, Lord Leicester appointed her as Holkham's first archivist. This important work of scholarship is based on research in the Holkham Archives which have been in Christine Hiskey's care for over 30 years.
