The most comprehensive examination to date of the claim that Islam, as a system of scripture, law and spirituality, is antiblack It is commonly claimed that Islam is antiblack, even inherently bent on enslaving Black Africans. Western and African critics alike have contended that antiblack racism is in the faith's very scriptural foundations and its traditions of law, spirituality, and theology. But what is the basis for this accusation? Bestselling scholar Jonathan A. C. Brown examines Islamic scripture, law, Sufism, and history to comprehensively interrogate this claim and determine how and why it emerged. Locating its origins in conservative politics, modern Afrocentrism, and the old trope of Barbary enslavement, he explains how antiblackness arose in the Islamic world and became entangled with normative tradition. From the imagery of 'blackened faces' in the Quran to Shariah assessments of Black women as 'undesirable' and the assertion that Islam and Muslims are foreign to Africa, this work provides an in-depth study of the controversial knot that is Islam and Blackness and identifies authoritative voices in Islam's past that are crucial for combatting antiblack racism today.

American Imam: From Pop Stardom to Prison Abolition
Imam Taymullah Abdur-Rahman’s incredible life story weaves the contemporary Black American experience with the Black Muslim American experience and emphasizes the role of interreligious dialogue in the fight for abolition and justice. By the time he was twelve, Taymullah Abdur-Rahman (born Tyrone Sutton) was a rising pop star, recruited as part of the RB group Perfect Gentlemen, with a top ten hit, national teen magazine covers, and an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show. However, after his music career peaked, Abdur-Rahman found himself back home, with little to show for his success. He became a teen father struggling to survive in Roxbury, MA. Seeing Islam as a way to discipline himself in an unrelenting environment, he converted. He went on to work in a maximum security prison as a Muslim chaplain, where he became zealously focused on saving souls instead of understanding the outside forces that lead men to prison. Later, in his work as the first paid Muslim chaplain at Harvard, Abdur-Rahman began to seek counsel outside of Islam, engaging with Jewish and Christian mentors who opened his eyes to the gifts of interreligious dialogue and helped lead him to what he was truly seeking: enlightenment. With this new framework, he returned to working with prisoners and clearly saw the cyclical effects of systemic racism that keep Black and brown people locked up and without support in America today. A sweeping narrative, American Imam voices the contemporary concerns of Black Muslim Americans in the shadow of El Hajj Malik El Shabazz, in the aftermath of 9/11, and in light of the fights for social justice and prison abolition. Abdur-Rahman’s story sounds an indelible rallying cry for understanding across race, religion, and cultural divides. “Captivating and poignant, American Imam traces the formative influences and wildly shifting fortunes of esteemed Black American convert Taymullah Abdur Rahman.”—Celene Ibrahim, PhD, author of Women and Gender in the Qur’an

Exemplary Jews and Christians who became Sahabah
The Sahabah are the Muslim companions of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. A Sahabi is a singular male companion and a Sahabiyyat is a singular female companion. The Sahabah is the plural form of the word and includes both male and female companions. To be considered from among the Sahabah then someone had to be Muslim believing in the prophethood of Muhammad and meet Muhammad in person as a Muslim and lastly die as a Muslim. Many Jews and Christians set a wonderful example by recognizing the truth of Muhammad's prophetic religion and embraced Islam and met Muhammad in the flesh. This category of people are known as Ahl-Kitab Sahabah because they had previously believed in the previous Islamic prophets such as Moses and Jesus as well as books of divine revelation prior to meeting Muhammad and confirming his message as the God-given truth. These were the contemporary disciples of Muhammad who were Jews and Christians who met him and became Muslims.

The Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba and Mosque of Cristo de la Luz: The History the Moors’ Most Famous M
The Calle Cardenal Herrero in Córdoba is an iconic cobbled street impossible to overlook, for it is home to the Andalusian city's spectacular Mosque-Cathedral. Also known as “La Mezquita,” this one-of-a-kind Moorish and Christian place of worship reels in about 1.5 million visitors each year, most of whom find themselves spellbound by its hypnotic architectural features and the riveting history that has transpired and continues to within the beautifully weathered walls of the dual-church. That said, the Mezquita is far more than a mere tourist attraction - in recent years, the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba has become the crux of a complicated religious conflict resurrected by impassioned worshipers and patriotic locals who fear not only for the future of its legacy, but the preservation of its true history. It is easy for those on the outside looking in to make hasty judgments about the ongoing dispute, considering the endless amount of information that is uploaded online by the second. The contentious debates surrounding the Mezquita are often products of outdated prejudices, festering distrust, and whitewashing, all of which make it harder for the Mezquita to remain a non-discriminatory space serviceable to and appreciated by everyone today. The Mezquita del Cristo de la Luz is nowhere near the largest monument in Toledo. The grand Toledo Cathedral, for instance, dwarfs this modest, two-level structure with its height of 146 feet. The simple elegance of the mezquita pales in comparison to the city's stupendous landmarks. Toledo is, after all, home to the mighty stone fortification known as the Alcazar of Toledo, and the breathtaking masonry showpiece that is the Synagogue of Santa Maria la Blanca. Nevertheless, this multicultural mezquita is often hailed as one of the most precious treasures of Toledo, a place that truly embodies the unique, cross-cultural spirit of the city.

This book refutes the concept of Religious Equality from many aspects. For the agnostic or secular or irreligious or anti-religious this book proves how everyone is upon a religious faith even if they don't know it and that it is impossible to not have a religion. Also the importance of choosing a religion is established as the most important decision one can make and the concept that all religions are equal is a extremist false faith.

Ishmael in the Shadow of Israel: God's Prophetic Plan for Abraham's Firstborn
A thoughtful and well-documented call to rethink the role of Arabs in the plan of God Western Christianity's long-standing support of Israel has, perhaps unintentionally, nurtured a prejudice against Arab people-the descendants of Abraham's first son, Ishmael. Author Tony Maalouf contends that this bias differs dramatically from the biblical portrayal of Ishmael and the nations that have sprung from him. With meticulous research and theological astuteness, Maalouf surfaces the positive portrayal of the Arab people in ancient and prophetic history, clearly showing that the Israeli-Arab conflict is a recent development in history. By bringing to light the nature of relationships that have prevailed among the Jews and Arabs throughout history, Maalouf strives to change the thinking of Bible believers to a more accurate understanding of this crucial contemporary issue. He traces the Abrahamic heritage of the Arab people and majors on the positive Arab-Israeli relationships in biblical history. The descendants of Ishmael have an important role in the sovereign plan of God-right up to the final moments of history.
