1901. When a train robbery destroy's Annie's plans for a quiet life, she reinvents herself as a redheaded daredevil and heads to Niagara Falls, determined to be the first person to survive going over it in a barrel - or to die trying. But when Annie arrives in Niagara, she unwittingly walks into a turf war between two crime bosses vying to control the illegal gambling, extortion and prostitution that hum below Niagara's honeymoon veneer. As Annie comes to realize that water is not the only danger in Niagara, her relationship with a riverman threatens her plans to fall. Based on the true story of daredevil Annie Edson Taylor, Katerie Morin's debut novel follows in the tradition of historical novels with competing points of view that includes The Blue Flower and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.

Laughter is unique to man. This delightful anthology presents some of the funniest extracts in English literature. David Timson starts with Anglo-Saxon riddles and continues with medieval memories, Tudor comic turns and Restoration buffoonery. The rise of the novel in the eighteenth century brought classic humour from Swift, Sterne and Smollet, passing the mantle to Charles Dickens in the nineteenth century. Included here are rarities as well, from the antiquarian's cupboard. There are also excerpts from children's literature and twentieth-century classics as diverse as Dorothy Parker and P. G. Wodehouse. An entertainment from start to finish.

For Zaid from Durban, it was heartbreak. For Fiona, who loves New Delhi, it had always been a dream. Rachna needs this chance to step out of Australia and her comfort zone. Tia from Mumbai sees it as a ticket away from her over-protective parents. The four find themselves at the University of Guelph in Canada. Adventure awaits, and a chance at love lingers amidst the crowds - in the halls, at the bars, on the dancefloor. Some of them will find it. But, as with such powerful life-altering things as love, it's not going to be easy. It's too late to turn back to the drab, safe and predictable lives they left behind. Might as well buckle up and hold on tight as they brace themselves for the ride of their lives.
