Mother's Day Poetry - Volume 1
This volume of poetry brings together poems throughout history with very special women. The relationship with our Mother is one of the most powerful many of us will ever feel. It rivals those with our children and partners in a way that both permeates and challenges how and on what terms we live our lives. A woman giving birth is not only bringing life into the World, she is doing so, usually, at great pain to herself. The fact that this is transformed within minutes of birth to a deep, unconditional love is truly beautiful. Whatever the future brings for Mother or child that bond will hold. The first attempts at language by babies is usually 'muh' or 'ma' - a universal sound for Mother. In every race, culture and domain Mothers are seen as both a symbol and living emblem of love and nurture, of comfort and safety. As we grow older that relationship changes but on a fundamental level remains giving, unconditional and unequivocal. As we become parents ourselves that circle of experience completes a full turn. For poets through time this unique and fulfilling relationship has enabled some of the greatest verse to be written by some of our most famed poets from Wordsworth to Whitman to Tennyson and many, many others. We hope this experience of listening to these carefully chosen words will help you reflect and further enjoy the experience that a Mother's love has brought to your life. Their devotion to ours ensures ours to theirs. Whilst we celebrate Mother's Day once a year, every day is their day.

The role of Fathers has changed much over the course of centuries. Men are now better suited to a role of co-parent in this modern age rather than the stilted, slightly aloof figure of times past. Being a Father is, of course, both a blessing and a burden. This modern day parenting in a frenetic fast changing world has to be both learnt and adapted from some inner well of memory from generations past as well as on the job experience. How to combine both the tenderness of love and support of modern views with the age old virtues of strength and leadership brings many difficulties to most men. Surprisingly then that poets have given Fathers both a courageous view of life as well as a dependability to be there for their children. In success or failure we can identify with their hopes and dreams. In this collection many of our greatest poets express their worded opinions of that unique role of Fatherhood - whether as one themselves or as a child reaching for that same mantle. It's a difficult role for most men to assume and to keep perspective with but do you know any Father who is not ready to accept the challenge? Or any son and daughter not willing to acknowledge that unique and binding bond? This collection of Father's Day poetry is read for you by Ghizela Rowe and Tim Graham.

The Story Of Shakespeare's Pericles
Pericles is the Prince of Tyre but is forced to leave the city due to the atrocities that the wicked Emperor of Greece threatens to bestow should he stay. His courage, wisdom and goodness are recognized wherever he goes so much so that he marries the Queen of Pentapolis who bears him a child at sea, for he is forced to return to Tyre to pacify its citizens who are clamouring for his return as their ruler following the death of the wicked Emperor of Greece. He believes his Queen to have died in childbirth and has to trust the upbringing of this newly born daughter, Marina, with the good rulers of Tarsus, as on board ship is no place for an infant. Pericles was grief stricken at the loss of his wife and child and could hardly eat or speak but the twists of fate had a better outcome for him. Although not one of the best known of Shakespeare's histories it has all his trademarks and with a strong reading by the warm rousing voice of Tim Graham, means this audio shouldn't be ignored.

The Poetry Of Thomas Hardy - An Introduction. Many giants of Literature originate from the shores of these emerald isles; Shakespeare, Dickens, Chaucer, The Brontes and Austen to which most people would willingly add the name Thomas Hardy. Far From The Madding Crowd, Tess Of The D'Urbervilles, The Mayor Of Casterbridge are but three of his literary masterpieces. But let us go further and add to his canon his Poems. Hardy himself thought he was a poet who wrote novels purely for the money. Indeed his poems were not published until he was in his fifties after his major novels were published and his reputation set. Today his poetry is more rightly regarded in its own right. These poems are ready for you by James Taylor, Gideon Wagner, Richard Mitchley, Tim Graham and Ghizela Rowe.

The Romantics - Volume 2 - An Introduction. Romanticism was a new movement in philosophy and the arts that began in the late 18th century when major political events shook the world such as the French Revolution and American Independence. It marked a distinct contrast to the prevailing Enlightenment ideals and in poetry represented a more personal intuitive, emotional and meditative expression with a back to nature imperative. It subsequently altered the way in which we perceive poetry and beyond as well as defining our own modern sensibilities to the arts. The Romantic poets who were central to this movement are traditionally characterised as the Big Six, namely Blake, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Keats, Shelley and Byron. However, as these volumes show, there are women poets who are often overlooked and these include Mary Shelley, Anna Laetitia Barbauld, Joanna Baillie and Charlotte Smith. Among our readers are Richard Mitchley and Ghizela Rowe. In this volume we collect together WS Landor to William Wordswoth.

Samuel Johnson wrote in reference to the beginning of the seventeenth century that there "appeared a race of writers that may be termed the metaphysical poets". Widely regarded in the years since as a distinct Poetical movement it is interesting to note that from what we now know the Metaphysical poets did not, in the main, read or know one another. Samuel Johnson was not an admirer of the group as he decried their distinct lack of the decorum of the day and stylistic impurity but the poems here testify that it bands together a wonderful group of poets and their poems in an inspiring and thought provoking volume.
