Mining Nickel at Yakabindie - the furious debate
We hear about the furious debate of mining nickel at a place called Yakabindie in the Western Desert of Australia and the protection of sacred sites by Indigenous Australians. Dominion mining company wanted to mine nickel in Jones creek at Yakabindie and a part of the Indigenous community wanted to protect Jones creek. There was a furious debate which involved a heated meeting between 2 groups of Indigenous Australians at Yakabindie. One group was saying that there were no sacred sites in Jones creek and the other group were saying that there were sacred sites in Jones creek which involved the Tjikuna Dreaming story. The Tjinkuna Dreaming story of how Jones creek was formed goes like this. A dragon fly was chasing 2 serpents through the desert landscape and jones creek was formed in the Dreamtime by the dragon fly chasing these 2 serpents. One of the serpents got away and the other serpent was caught by the dragon fly and eaten. We confront anthropologist, Rory O'Connor at Yakabindie about his report for Dominion mining company, as he states that the sacred sites were in the ranges west of Jones creek and that there were no sacred sites in Jones creek as part of the Tjinkuna story. He reads from his report that Indigenous people state that there are no sacred sites in Jones creek. We hear from an elderly lady, Dolly Walker from the Nghalia heritage council that there are sacred sites in Jones creek which involve the Tjikuna Dreaming story. She states that those Indigenous people who want the nickel mine to go ahead are just interested in money and are selling their souls by giving their culture away. She says that Christian people don't want to give their Church away so why should they give their Culture away by mining Jones creek. Anthropologist Phillip Moore says his report about Jones Creek having sacred sites in it, was never considered by the state government. A young man called Zar says he will now not go through Traditional Indigenous Law to become a man if Jones creek is mined, as part of the Tjikuna story will be gone forever. Traditional Law Man, Dusty Stevens says no to mining and people don't understand the Sacred Laws of Jones creek. We go to a press where the Minister for Indigenous affairs, Judith Watson and the Managing Director of Dominion mining, Peter Walker state that the nickel mine at Yakabindie has been given approval after considering the reports from both anthropologists. In the press conference both Judith Watson and Peter Walker make mistakes in their statements after questions are asked about the protection of sacred sites. Peter Walker admits that there are 2 sacred sites in Jones creek but are of little significance to Indigenous people. The Yakabindie nickel mine went ahead and Jones creek was dug up, but several years later Dominion mining went broke, as it collapsed and was delisted in Western Australia.

Rottnest Island Mass Grave - ground probing radar
Rottnest Island became a part of history how Europeans settled Australia through imprisoning Indigenous Australians in the last 200 years. Rottnest Island is a tourist island off the coast of the state of Western Australia where Australians go to relax at the beach, go swimming and scuba diving but it's only recently been discovered as a prison where Indigenous Australians' were locked up and also many lost their lives and were buried in a mass grave. In the 1970's while laying pipes for a sewerage system, George Pergament talks of how skeletons were falling in on his workmen. But the discovery of these human bones were covered up and never talked about again. In the 1990's there was a push by certain people to get the mass grave confirmed and protected under the heritage act of Western Australian state law. Thus researcher Paul Alladyce investigated and confirmed the mass grave by a number of methods. He also spoke to an old man in his early 90's, Jack O'Donahue who saw bodies being thrown into a mass grave as a young boy, as his father was one of the Wardens of the Rottnest Island Prison. The state government of Western Australia approved of a Ground Probing Radar to confirm that the soil deep down had been disturbed confirming that the ground had been dug up many years ago. The ground probing radar had confirmed that there was a mass grave of over 300 bodies of Indigenous Australian's. The Premier of the State of Western Australia made a speech how the Rottnest island grave needed to be protected. It was fenced off, with a road and holiday houses removed. The Mass Grave was also on a place called 'Tent Land' where thousands of tourists had slept in tents on top of the mass grave for many years without people knowing. Tent land was also fenced off. The Quadrangle (the old prison) was known as the quad, was a place where over 3000 men were imprisoned and hundreds had died. The wardens were quite brutal where Indigenous men were hung in the middle of the quad in front of other men. Many died of over cramped damp conditions of many diseases and buried in the mass grave. People called for the Quad to be turned into a museum of history but sadly the quad was turned into a hotel against people's wishes cause there was too much money involved in tourism. So now you have tourists who now sleep in rooms which used to be prison cells where many men died.

The Life and Suicide of Rob Riley
Out of respect for the Riley Family, I've been asked not to name anyone in this audio book out of respect for Indigenous Australian culture as several people in this story have passed away telling their stories about the late Rob Riley. There are interviews and speeches from various people around Australia painting a picture about the life of Rob Riley both personal and professional. Rob was a high profile Indigenous Australian who fought for many social justice issues over 30 years. In 1996 at the age of only 42 Rob took his own life hanging himself in a motel in the city of Perth in Australia. He made one mistake of being charged with a driving offense and the community came down hard on him. Towards the end of this story a point is made that the community was too hard on Rob and we sometimes don't look at the overall character what someone does for our community. Rob Riley stopped the legal service developing into a bureaucracy that couldn't be managed and less accountable to the community. He was involved in the fight and protection of sacred sites in the Kimberly region of Australia where he met with Land Councils to stop the oil riggers mining oil on Traditional Land of Indigenous Australians. He was Chairman of the NAC the National Aboriginal Congress in the 1980's which was like an Aboriginal government that helped with governance issues. It was also a powerful political lobby group on Land Rights in Australia. Rob was a part of establishing ATSIC the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission. He played a key role in the ATSIC's preamble debating the issue night after night late at night, so that dispossession of Indigenous Australia could be enshrined in legislation but the Senate knocked it out. A price was paid by Rob Riley as he was attacked by Australian politicians under parliamentary privilege. Rob opposed the juvenile justice laws in the state of Western Australia stating that they were outdated and against human rights. He was also played a key role in the royal commission into deaths in custody where he visited various prisons. He was a negotiator with the federal government with the Mabo High Court case where Native Title legislation gave Indigenous people the rights to try and get traditional lands returned. Rob was charged with a driving offense and contacted the assistant commissioner of police to apologise to the two constables for what he put them through. We hear the Eulogy from his daughters and reveal how his role as a leader in the community was detrimental to his health and family. Rob was given a nick name as the frill neck lizard of Australia where he stood his ground trying to change a world of entrenched and difficult odds. Many people have said that Rob Riley was a great man in Australia, but as someone states at his funeral, ' it's a pity you couldn't have told him that he was a great man. '

I Travelled Across Remote Australia
I travelled across remote Australia to 3 different states visiting several remote Indigenous communities to see how they lived in regards to creating sustainable livelihoods but also how they used western technology to survive. Again out of respect for Indigenous law of Australia I can't mention any names of people given that people have passed away. I looked at several main issues in their lives to do with energy, planning, communication, health, housing, water and transport, as we all need these to survive, but for these Indigenous people in remote Australia surviving can be a bit more difficult given that they live in such remote places in Australia. I travelled to 3 main regions of Australia, the Kimberly region of Western Australia, Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory and Cape York in far north Queensland. We look at how dirt roads are constructed in the Kimberly given that they have massive floods from the wet season that can cut off communities for months and how they build dirt roads from Black soil so it's compacted like cement. We hear about the importance of looking after environmental health in Arnhem Land and also how ladies make their bush medicines from plants from the bush when people get sick. We hear from a man who lives on Devil Island who used to use diesel generators but it became too expensive buying fuel, so he purchased his own wind turbine from another state known as Victoria so he could have power from the wind on his homeland. We visit the remote community of Port Stewart on the far north coast of Cape York where people recently moved back to their homelands after being forced off their land for mining gold several decades ago. We also have some fun and play football with the kids in Port Stewart. We fly to the Tiwi Islands to hear about how the ladies make their own traditional clothes for the tourists who visit their island. Their designs are unique stories of their 'Dreaming stories 'how their land was formed thousands of years ago from different animals such as the crocodile. We go back to Arnhem Land to the community of Ramanginning where they have a program called ' caring for country,' and we also look at contaminated water, how their water bore was fixed so they could have clean drinking water. We visit the western desert where ladies talk about how they had no telephone to call for help if someone got sick. They wanted to put pressure on service providers to get their telephone connected. We hear them talk in their traditional language so we had to get an interpreter to translate what they were saying. The Wirapunda family of Dhurrupitjapi Homelands in Arnhem Land talk about true reconciliation in Australia where their family and the McCall family had a conflict between their great grandparents decades ago not understanding each other's laws, but both families came together and are now good friends helping each other. Finally, we hear from one the last great stockmen of Cape York. How he rode on horses rounding up cattle and getting them to market. He used to go through large rivers with his cattle with large crocodiles around him, as Cape York has some of the biggest crocodiles on earth

Warfare part 1 America's Spy Base Pine Gap
This is part 1 of a 3 part series on today's modern Warfare. We take a look at how Pine Gap in the Australian Desert is America's biggest spy base in the world. We hear from Professor Richard Tanter and Greens Senator Scott Ludlam at the Peace conference in Australia 2016. We take an investigative look at the USA's military intelligence and communications base of Pine Gap with its capabilities of spying on citizens of the world by tapping into every cell phone. We assemble the best possible picture of what actually goes on at Pine Gap how it is patched into global networks of surveillance. We reveal the facts that Pine Gap is a War fighting base and helps conduct Drone strikes around the world killing thousands of innocent civilians while targeting terrorists in the Middle East and Africa. There are Geo-stationary satellites that sit above the equator that have giant antennas which pick up weak signals. Pine Gap downloads information from space collecting data from cell phone conversations and are then fed to the US Military and the CIA for future Drone attacks. Pine Gap is a remarkable technological achievement by the USA and is very important for spying and modern warfare. Pine Gaps role in Australia is poorly understood by the world as it also implicates Australian foreign and defence policy in activities in global mass surveillance and a possible increase of tensions around nuclear warfare. Pine Gap began in the 1960's with 3 antennas but now has 33 large antennas and is expanding all the time. There is a major debate about whether or not Pine Gap is a joint facility between the USA and Australia. As Pine Gap was built by America, is paid for by America but Australia has very little access to Pine Gap being a very secretive base. We reveal how Australia's past Prime Minister Gough Whitlam was possibly removed from office for questioning Pine Gap as a USA base in Australia and how he didn't like being lied to by America about this spy base. How also it may have been past President Nixon's influence in the 1970's that had Gough Whitlam removed from office for questioning Pine Gap.

Warfare part 2 Drones Dropping Bombs
This is part 2 of a 3 part series on today's modern Warfare. We take a look at how Drones from the United States of America are used by the US military and the CIA bombing other countries killing terrorists but at the same time thousands of innocent civilians. We hear from PH student Alex and Greens Senator Scott Ludlam at the Peace conference in Australia 2016. We take an investigative look at how Drones are used in modern warfare. We assemble the best possible picture of how drones are used in today's current war against terrorism. We reveal the facts how there is a link between America's biggest spy base in the World, Pine Gap in Australia and Drone bombings in several countries by the USA. PH students Alex is researching the physiological and physical effects of drone warfare. This current drone warfare is possibly the most significant manifestation of this hiding that the effects of warfare that we don't hear about civil casualties in the media. Governments sell drone technology as causing few civilian casualties. Drones are remotely piloted aircraft. The people controlling them are sitting back in their home country of the US and the UK, and they fly drones carrying missiles or bombs. Based on the surveillance data that drones collect, they decisions who should be targeted, then drop these bombs or missiles onto those onto who they think ought to be killed. The problems with this drone technology is that they just not hit the person that they're ought to hit, but also innocent civilians. The new 500 pound bomb GBU 12's kill zone is up to 90 metres, so they kill the terrorist but any women or children within that 90 metres also dies. We don't hear a lot about drone warfare because it's a technical subject and hard to understand. There are drone pilots in the Nevada desert ( USA ) and the UK in Lincolnshire. Drones take off from bases in Africa and then bomb Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria by the US air force which we are formally at war with, but the CIA bombs Northern Pakistan, Libya, Yemen and Somalia which we are officially not at war with. The US air force have to report their bombing raids by US law but it's illegal for the CIA to report who they have killed in drone bombings in counter terrorism operations. We also highlight the brave journalists and whistle blowers such as former drone pilots from the USA who talk about the killing of thousands in innocent civilians by drone bombings. Northern Pakistan society is slowly collapsing because the general population are now too scared to go about a normal day. We look at the physiological effects of drone warfare in Northern Pakistan how community meetings are very rarely held and children are now not going to school because they hear the buzzing sounds of drones above them, fearing they will be killed by a drone bomb. We hear how terrorists were able to hack into an American spy drone and how Russia, Iran and China are now developing their own drones as it's a race to constantly be on top with this technology. We also look at how this war against terror is fuel by fear. Are we making terrorism worse and has the global security environment worsened because of drone bombings around the world.

Warfare part 3 Guam Military Base
This is part 3 of a 3 part series on today's modern Warfare. We take a look at how America built a military base on Guam in the pacific with Lisalinda Natividad, PhD from the University of Guam. We hear how Guam was bought by the United States under the Treaty of Paris for a small sum of money. It's location in the pacific is strategic military. It was colonised by the United States and is referred to as America's best kept secret. Local people of Guam lack any political power to overturn the US defence agenda on their own island. It's an incorporated territory of the United States, thus on the list of the United Nations of non-governing territories which there are only 17 left in the world. Rights of Guam citizens are less than a US citizen as they can't vote in the US elections. Yet Guam is allowed one delegate but has no real power to speak up for the people of Guam. The United States continues to take the land and the sea around Guam for their military purposes and has more power to take land than the local government of Guam to build basic infrastructure. The community of Guam took the United States to court and won, but then the USA changed their federal laws so the people of Guam no have no real opportunity to fight back through the courts. We hear about the connection between Guam and Pine Gap with international spying of people and the drone bombings that conducted in various countries. We reveal how Australia is sometimes caught between the disputes of the USA and China but understand that Australia will eventually always side with the USA because of Pine Gap. The USA is always trying to contain China as they're worried about China's rise to power through economics. Although America has about 1000 bases around the world they also have nearly 100 bases facing China given that China is constructing their 1st military base in the South China sea. The point is made in this part 3 of this series that you should question everything you're told as western media are experts at feeding masses of people false information about Warfare, and the fact that modern Warfare is based on the emotions of Fear.

We hear from Bill Johnson ( an English Man from the UK ) living in Australia how his 19 year old adoptive son ' Louis Johnson ' was murdered in the city of Perth by 5 youths from London. Louis was walking home from his 19th Birthday party when he was attacked. After the gang of youth bashed Louis they went for a swim at the beach but then went back to kill Louis Johnson. They put his body over the curve and ran him over several times shattering his pelvis, with many internal injuries. Later in the morning a cyclist on his morning ride found Louis on the road and called for an ambulance. Once the ambulance service got to the scene things spiraled more out of control with the ambulance officers calling Louis a petrol sniffer because he was an Indigenous Australian. The ambulance officers gave Louis no medical treatment and didn't take him to hospital, instead took him home. He later died in his mothers arms of internal injuries. This all came out in the court case that Louis was bashed by a gang of youths from London and the Ambulance service was sued by the Johnson Family. The leader of the youth gang Mark Wilder got several years but the others were let off by the courts. Mark Wilder stated they bashed Louis because he was Black. Bill Johnson wanted to tell the story about how he lost his son due to overt racism in Australia because of the colour of his skin. Bill makes the point that many people didn't stop to help Louis because of stereotyping that Louis may become violent or was drunk because he had Black skin. Bill makes it clear that the ambulance service didn't follow procedures by taking Louis to hospital. Australian singer and song writer Archie Roach also highlights that Louis lost his life because people that passed Louis used stereotyping in their minds that a Black person would be dangerous if they tried to help and save Louis. Bill Johnson called on the Australian government to create a national campaign to change people's attitudes in Australia. He makes the point that governments know how to use the media to manipulate people and a national campaign should be implemented about Overt Racism
