The New Gospel of Wealth: With 2019 Afterword
This is the classic work on the best ways to distribute surplus wealth throughout the community by American businessman Andrew Carnegie, with a 2019 afterword to address issues that have arisen since Mr. Carnegie's time. Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919) was a Scottish-American industrialist, business magnate, and philanthropist. Carnegie's most prominent business was the expansion of the American steel industry. Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh), Carnegie Hall (New York City), the Carnegie Hero Fund, and Carnegie 'units' (university credit-hours) are just some of what remains today of his immense legacy in American and world history. Frank Marcopolos (1972-) founded 'The Whirligig' literary magazine in 1999, which has been called 'a landmark, demonstrating the power of the literary underground.' One reviewer said that 'you get this true lion-roaring sense that Editor Frank Marcopolos knows what he likes, and how to read, and how to publish, and he has guts, and eats insects on Wheaties with bleach.' The Great Gatsby (Annotated and Illustrated)
There is perhaps no greater American novel than The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Presented here for the first time with essays collected by Bookquarium editors, and one short story 'in the universe of The Great Gatsby,' this audiobook provides additional context for understanding and appreciating this classic story. The story itself has been called the 'chronicle of the jazz age,' and presaged the looming Great Depression that followed the 'roaring '20s' in America. It has been adapted into no less than 5 motion pictures (one from the silent-picture era has been lost to history, unfortunately.) Annotation materials include: Essay: The Great Gatsby - A Good Novel, Not the 'Great' One by M.K. Adkins, Ph.D. Essay: The Great Gatsby - The Great American Novel at its Best by Lisa E. Anton Chekhov (1860-1904) is a Russian writer universally regarded as an all-time master. According to Mikhail Chekhov, while working upon 'The Duel,' Chekhov periodically met with the zoologist and writer Vladimir Wagner. The two men had extensive conversations, one of which was on the subject of the then-popular idea of 'the right of the strong one,' which became the basis of the philosophy of the main character of the story, named Von Koren, for whom Wagner apparently served as a basic template. The story has been twice adapted for the screen, once in 1973 and again in 2010. Frank Marcopolos is the in-house audiobook narrator for The Bookquarium, whose voice-work has garnered praise from listeners such as: 'You have the perfect reading voice It’s amazing!' 'My goodness! That's the best narration I have ever heard!' 'Pitch, pace, and power in your natural, conversational style... You're the best I've heard.' Thoroughly enjoyed this and love listening to your work!' 'I enjoyed your interpretation that you showed through your pauses, intonations, tones, etc. I prefer not to listen to any other audiobooks than yours. :)' This story has been translated by Constance Garnett, and the translation and the text of the story are in the public domain.

The Body Snatcher and Olalla: Two Classic Tales
Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) was a Scottish writer most known for his classic works, Treasure Island, Kidnapped, and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. A celebrity in his lifetime, Stevenson's literary importance and influence have persisted over the years. In 2018, he was ranked as the 26th-most-translated writer in the world. The Body Snatcher (1884) - The characters in this story were based on criminals in the employ of real-life surgeon Robert Knox (1791-1862) around the time of the notorious 'Burke and Hare' murders of 1828, which were a series of 16 killings committed over a period of about 10 months in Edinburgh, Scotland. William Burke and William Hare sold the corpses to Knox for dissection at his anatomy lectures. Olalla (1885) - A story set in Spain during the Peninsular War based on a dream that Stevenson had.
