INCONSPICUOUS ADVERSARY STRIKES
A young man, Brian Davis, was born in Britain and went to India, in the Sundarbans swamps, to help his uncle bring down a tiger, a men eater; it proved challenging to hunt down this animal. Many others had tried before and were unsuccessful. He was good with firearms and a skilful hunter. He managed to kill the man-eater; it was a close call. He later returned to Britain and studied and practised law; after that, he worked in a bank in London. That was during Queen Victoria's era. The young man also wanted to fulfil his dreams of owning his fleet of ships and achieved it over time by starting with two vessels. After working for the bank, he was later employed by an elite family and married a woman in that same family. The wife turned out to be a drunkard and was unfaithful during their marriage. He decided to leave his employment with his in-laws and start his own business. It was an instant success... Subsequent unfortunate events started happening; he lost his daughter and his two newly purchased ships; they were blown up at sea, losing all the people and cargo on board. He was viciously attacked, and so were some of his staff. Scot Land Yard was busy trying to solve that problem, and it seemed like a vendetta by whom? His ex-in-laws took over the loan on his newly purchased ships, and they tried to seize his vessels. To save his company, he took on an assignment to find a son of a wealthy Belgian family who was lost in the interior of Africa. Other people were also looking for the same person to kill him. While travelling to the Mountain of the Moon, Ruwenzori mountain in Uganda, they had to go through Tsavo, Kenya and came across the killer lions, men eaters. A pair of lions also attacked them while on their journey. Brian was skilled with guns and with his Winchester repeater and brought down the man-eater. He must succeed in saving his company back in Britain.

From Greta Kelly, the author of the Warrior Witch duology, comes The Queen of Days, an epic adventure that weaves together a flawed-but-lovable family of thieves, a battle between fallen gods, and stakes high enough to cause vertigo—perfect for fans of The Lies of Locke Lamora and Six of Crows. For Balthazar and his family of thieves, stealing a statue during the annual celebration of the god Karanis was just a good bit of fun…or a way to stick it to the governor who murdered his parents. And yeah, the small fortune in reward doesn’t hurt—even if his boss also hired the mysterious Queen of Days to join the crew as “the weapon of last resort...” Whatever that means. But Bal doesn’t know the ceremony isn’t simply empty words and dusty tradition; it’s true magic. The kind of magic that rips open a portal for the god himself. Only the idol that Karanis planned on using for a body now lies broken at the Queen of Days’ feet. And half of it is missing. With the aid of a lovable brawler, a society lady turned bomb maker, a disgraced soldier, and a time-eating demon, Bal must hunt down the missing half of the statue if he has any hope of earning his money, keeping his crew alive…and perhaps even saving all of humanity. But as his journey sends him racing through the city—and across realities—he discovers that doing all this might just doom the city. The city be damned. It’s time to kill a god.
