The Poetry of Death - Volume 1
Death is a subject that few of us talk about, but many think about and more than a few of us dread. Whether it is the actual end of our life's journey or merely a transit point to Heavenly glory its actual point of impact is, obviously, life changing. But what do poets think of it? How do their minds tangle with the subject and make sense of this? That's what we thought too. Poets as rich and diverse as Longfellow, Hood, Bronte, Burns and Gilbran here share their words, thoughts and visions with us. Death is unavoidable but the journey there should be as informed and enjoyable as possible. On this Volume our readers include Richard Mitchley & Ghizela Rowe.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Kahlil Gibran, Khalil Gibran, Robert Burns, Thomas Hood (Author), Ghizela Rowe, Gideon Wagner (Narrator)

It is often said that two things are unavoidable; Death and Taxes. Certainly the latter is a common thorn in adult life but as to the former it seems that for many people it is merely a hiccup in Life's eternal journey. A journey they wish, if being of good deed and character, to share at the eternity of Heaven's largesse, a reward for Faith and the obligations of Religion. Of course for those not so fortunate an altogether different experience was prepared for them; Hell. For those who take religion as their companion Heaven conjures up all manner of eternal delights. Here we take the thoughts and words of such greats as Gerald Manley Hopkins, WB Yeats, Rupert Brooke, Emily Dickinson and many others to give their views of a time to come. Among our readers are Richard Mitchley and Ghizela Rowe.

The Romantics - Volume 1 - An Introduction. Romanticism was a new movement in philosophy and the arts that began in the late 18th century when major political events shook the world such as the French Revolution and American Independence. It marked a distinct contrast to the prevailing Enlightenment ideals and in poetry represented a more personal intuitive, emotional and meditative expression with a back to nature imperative. It subsequently altered the way in which we perceive poetry and beyond as well as defining our own modern sensibilities to the arts. The Romantic poets who were central to this movement are traditionally characterised as the Big Six, namely Blake, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Keats, Shelley and Byron. However, as these volumes show, there are women poets who are often overlooked and these include Mary Shelley, Anna Laetitia Barbauld, Joanna Baillie and Charlotte Smith. Among our readers are Richard Mitchley and Ghizela Rowe. In this volume we collect together William Blake to John Keats.

The original meaning of the word derives from the Italian word 'sonetto' meaning 'little song'. Traditionally a sonnet has fourteen lines. Perhaps the best known writer of sonnets is William Shakespeare who wrote 154 of them. Of course with any set form it evolves and over the centuries sonnets have. But as poems, as expressions they have captured our imaginations as few other poetical forms have. Our readers include Richard Mitchley and Ghizela Rowe.
