Parents on the Move takes the stress and hassle out of relocating

An educational specialist has written a "hassle-busting" handbook for families looking to relocate without stress.

Kathleen McAnear Smith has pulled together years of experience in assisting families find schools and settle into new communities into a highly readable and useful format to assist readers with making a successful move.

Kathleen, 59, wrote Parents on the Move to equip mums and dads with the ''vital and necessary'' tools to prepare for a happy and stress-free move.

The 174-page title is packed with advice for families, and draws on biblical passages about the importance of maintaining good relationships in the process.

It also includes practical information about children's education in a new location, and about settling into a new community.

The book, published by Destiny Image Europe, has won praise from readers and critics alike and has even been dubbed a 'saviour' by many families on the move.

Speaking yesterday from her home in Farnham, Surrey, the mum-of-six said: '"Moving with a family is never easy, but the reality in these trying economic times is that 'staying put' is fast becoming a luxury.

'"Many of us have no choice but to go where the jobs are, and so I have written this book to give relocating families accessible and invaluable information.

"Nearly 60 per cent of corporate assignees are relocating with children, and unfortunately 30-40 percent of these assignments end in failure, largely due to family concerns."

Kathleen has lived and worked as a teacher and education specialist across the world for the last 30 years.

She was born in the United States, but has relocated successfully to five areas of the UK since moving here in 1976.

Armed with her relocation experience, Kathleen launched Child Track UK, a successful consulting business specialising in family relocation, primarily in the financial sectors of London and New York.

The business received international acclaim and is now recognised as one of the UK's leading education consultancies of its generation.

Kathleen retired from running Child Track UK in 2006, choosing to focus her expertise on writing Parents On the Move.

She penned the guide book to make available the "essential" information many modern families require in this time of work related struggles and pressures.

"I'm a strong believer in His power,'" said Kathleen, the proud parent of a 'blended' family of her own two children and four step-children.

'The Bible is packed with true accounts and advice about how to handle these monumental events.

She added: "Though written for Judeo-Christian families, every potential expatriate can benefit from the advice and information in my book, including families of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds."

With thesis training at UK master's level, Kathleen has previously penned several articles for magazines and newspapers on a variety of family and community topics .

She began drafting Parents on the Move earlier this year, and was signed to Destiny Image Europe soon after.

The title went on sale earlier this month, priced £9.99.

It has now become something of a phenomenon in its genre, and its popularity is growing on a daily basis.

Kathleen is already working on her second book which focuses on family recovery, due for general release next year.

"Together with my experience, and God's guidance, I want families to believe that relocation can be successful if the right preparations are made.

"I hope my book encourages families to continue the journey that God has set out for them."

A spokesman for Destiny Image Europe said: "It has been a pleasure to work with an author like Kathleen whose passion and commitment to her profession and Christ shines through her writing.

"We are delighted to be involved in her career as an author, and are very much looking forward to publishing the second title next year."
