Cathy Glass achieves double on bestsellers' list
22 Oct 2010
Two fostering memoirs make the Sunday Times chart
British author Cathy Glass scored a rare 'double' this week after two
of her titles reached the Top 20 bestselling list.
Mummy Told me Not to Tell (HarperCollins), her latest title, shot
straight into the Sunday Times paperback non-fiction chart at number
eight for the week ending October 16.
It joins I Miss Mummy (also HarperCollins), her previous title, which
is placed at 15th spot.
Speaking exclusively to LoveReading Glass, a notable foster carer,
said she was ''ecstatic''.
''To get one book on the top 20 list is fantastic but to have two
ranking at the same time is really something,'' she said.
''It's great to know that people continue to enjoy my books, and I'm
grateful as ever to my loyal readers.''
Both titles are based on the author's own experiences as a foster
carer to more than 50 children.
Mummy Told Me Not To Tell entered the chart - compiled by
NielsenBookScan - based on half-week sales. It was released on
Thursday, October 14.
I Miss Mummy was released in July and has now spent 16 weeks in the
top 20, with three months in the top 10.
Glass, who writes under a pen name to protect the identity of her
subjects, added: ''I pen true-life stories about children going into
the social care system - primarily to get the message across about how
much has gone right for them and how much hasn't.
''So for me the most important thing is that people continue to want
to read about this very important issue.''
A foster carer for over 20 years, Glass released her first book
Damaged in 2007. It went to number one in the Sunday Times bestsellers
charts, both in hardback and paperback.
Since then she has released a further seven books, including Happy
Kids, a guide to raising well-behaved children.
Her next title will be the novel Run Mummy, Run, scheduled for release
in March 2011. You heard it here first...
