Cutting for Stone is one of Alexander McCall Smith's most anticipated reads of the summer.

He told the newspaper that he is eager to read
Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese, as he believes him to be a remarkable writer.
The author revealed that he was impressed by Verghase's first publication,
My Own Country.
Mr McCall Smith told the news provider: "There is a gravity and beauty in his writing that sets it apart from much contemporary fiction: a 500-page treat awaits."
Cutting for Stone is the story of twin sons born in Ethiopia in the 1950s from an illicit union between an Indian nun and British doctor. The boys are brought up together but a betrayal divides them.
The Dog Who Came in from the Cold featured on the Book Show on Sky Arts last month.
