That was the question MTV sought to answer when it questioned the award-winning author about her recently released
The Carrie Diaries.The story stands as a prequel to the much-loved
Sex and the City phenomenon, following the leading lady Carrie Bradshaw as a 17-year-old girl making her way in America.
Revealing her thoughts on the likelihood of a cinematic adaptation, Bushnell told the news provider it is out of her hands.
"Every single one of my books has been optioned and one of my books has been optioned twice," she explains.
"There isn't that much that you can do about it. With each book, I just try to write the best book that I can."
While fans will have to wait and see if
The Carrie Diaries is destined for Hollywood, one thing is for sure – there will be a sequel to the prequel.
Bushnell has revealed that, although the teen edition has only just hit shelves, she is already penning
the Carrie Diaries 2 and is very "excited".
