This fast-paced financial thriller has it all: blackmail, murder, corruption, glamour and greed all wrapped into a very contemporary plot. Entrepreneur Nick Adams gets dragged into working for a US agency hellbent on bringing to justice two hugely wealthy tycoons with highly questionable business morals. Unsurprisingly, for Nick, this is not a safe place to find yourself... Self-published by the author whose first hand knowledge of the sometimes murky world of corporate finance brings a very realistic edge to the whole book.

Meticulous research and superlative writing brings to life the little known but important Battle of Flodden in 1513 and the consequences to Scotland and its people. This racy adventure, combining political intrigue and romance is told through the eyes of several characters who either had a hand in bringing the country to war, or were deeply affected by the outcome. It makes for a compelling and educational read. Definitely one for fans of Rose Tremain and Hilary Mantel.

Be transported back to prohibition New York in this intoxicating, creepy and at times funny story of misplaced friendships and shifting truths that will have you hooked. Rose is a respectable lady working as a police stenographer and typist until Odalie arrives and and draws her into her Roaring Twenties web of speakeasies, gangsters, illicit sex and murder, where no one can be taken at face value. With the confident writing style and tight plotting it’s hard to believe this is a highly recommended debut novel.

A 'Piece of Passion' from Juliet Annan, Publisher Fig Tree/Penguin...
'I am very, very keen on this wonderful debut: The Other Typist is a wonderful, creepy, funny edge-of-the seat thriller combined with period romp. Set in Prohibition New York, it tells the story of Rose, an orphaned, mousy-looking hard-working secretary who works in the typing pool at the police precinct and her growing friendship with the new -- other -- typist. Glamorous Odalie mesmerises Rose and draws her into her roaring twenties web of speakeasies, gangsters, illicit sex and murder where everyone is telling stories about each other (none of which quite match up). It's not long before the identities of the two girls become inextricably entwined, until it is almost impossible to tell one from the other. It is the most beguiling and page turning novel, where the reader is never quite sure of their footing, and I'm thrilled that early online reviews have described it as The Great Gatsby meets Gone Girl.'

In this sharp and funny literary debut set in Northern California during the 1980s recession, Fayette Fox delves deep into the dark heart of an ordinary American family - and finds out that make-believe isn't just for kids.

A Piece of Passion by Fayette Fox’s editor at Myriad Editions, Vicky Blunden...'From the very first page of The Deception Artist I was completely captivated by Ivy’s voice. She narrates the story, taking us on a journey through what proves to be a tough time for her family – from the worry of her brother’s illness to the repercussions of her father losing his job. She also invites us into the wild world of her own playful imagination, into which she retreats whenever life is too tricky. I defy anyone not to fall in love with her – she's a brilliant comic creation.
Fayette’s writing is pitch perfect and she has a real gift not just for getting under her characters’ skins, but for seeing the comedy and the drama in the everyday. It’s such an uplifting read, and a real joy to read a novel that has such warmth and humour crackling on every page.'

June 2013 eBook of the Month.
A warm and appealing debut about family, friendships and love, of difficult decisions and lifelong consequences from one of Ireland’s best known radio presenters. Going Back follows Elizabeth Kelly and her friends, young economic migrants from Dublin, as they escape for a summer in Boston in 1988. Twenty years later as opportunities are scarce once again, the next generation look to Boston, awakening memories of a life-changing golden summer for their parents. This is a perfect combination of humour, heartache and surprises that would be great as a summer read.

University chums, Julia and Toby, back then had a fumble, went their separate ways and are now the best of friends. Then Toby gets dumped, they have an epiphany and a romantic weekend in Brighton. From the start we know they were right for each other so for them to also work this out early on in the novel means we have trouble ahead ... and trouble we certainly have. This is a pure delight. Toby is an old-fashioned, decent bloke, Julia a stubborn, modern girl. How they get it all by the end is beautifully handled with some unexpected, humorous and emotional moments, all thrown into a fast-moving plot. I loved it.
