Romantic fiction is the best-selling, widest-read type of fiction, universally enjoyed because everyone knows something about love. For the past 48 years the best books of this genre have battled it out to win the coveted award of 'Romantic Novel of the Year'.

In 2008 bestselling author Freya North won Romantic Novel of the Year Award for Pillow Talk.


This year there were 156 books submitted and a Long List of 20 Novels agreed. The six on this page are the Short list and this years winner was awarded at the annual RNA Award luncheon on 10 Feb, at London’s Royal Garden Hotel.
