Synopsis
Break No Bones by Kathy Reichs
It's the second-to-last day of archaeological field school. Dr. Temperance Brennan's students are working on a site of prehistoric graves on Dewees, a barrier island north of Charleston, South Carolina, when a decomposing body is uncovered in a shallow grave off a lonely beach...The skeleton is articulated, the bone fresh and the vertebrae still connected by soft-tissue; the remains are encased in rotted fabric and topped by wisps of pale, blond hair - a recent burial, and a case Tempe must take. Dental remains and skeletal gender and race indicators suggest that the deceased is a middle-aged white male - but who was he? Why was he buried in a clandestine grave? And what does the unusual vertical hairline fracture of the sixth cervical vertebrae signify? While Tempe is trying to piece together the evidence, her personal life is thrown into turmoil. When a bullet - intended, perhaps, for her - puts Tempe's estranged husband Pete in hospital, her unexpectedly emotional response complicates her on-off relationship with Detective Andrew Ryan...But before long, another body is discovered - and Tempe finds herself drawn deeper into a shocking and chilling investigation, set to challenge her entire view of humanity. ..

Fellow novelist KERRY REICHS on KATHY REICHS
When speaking of writers that have most influenced me, it’s safe to
begin at the beginning. My mother Kathy Reichs has written eleven
London Times best selling books and fostered the television drama Bones.
I am incredibly proud of her talents, and her pride in mine has
sweetened my success. My defection from Lawyer Camp (my father and
brother are lawyers) to Writer Camp was heralded with joyous open arms
by my mother, and the best part is enjoying it together. We don’t
agree on everything, and we write about vastly different subject
materials. But some day I may just cave in to her pestering that I
“put a dead body” in one of my books so we can write something
together! If you haven’t already, try her latest book, Devil Bones.
Maxim Jakubowski's view on TEMPERANCE BRENNAN...

forensic anthropologist who shares her time between North Carolina and
Montreal, and has now appeared in almost ten novels where her medical
examinations of bones and other sinister discoveries always send her on
a trail of murder, peril and grief. Her latest outing is in 206 BONES.
Temperance Brennan series: 1. Deja Dead 2. Death Du Jour 3. Deadly Decisions 4. Fatal Voyage 5. Grave Secrets 6. Bare Bones 7. Monday Mourning 8. Cross Bones 9. Break No Bones 10. Bones to Ashes 11. Devil Bones 12. 206 Bones
