Lovereading view...

The second Harry Bosch book has just as much momentum as the first. Harry gets involved in a case when a narcotics cop, Bosch has had some brief contact with, is found dead. Is it suicide or murder and what did the dead cop know about an old case Bosch was working on? Bosch is told to back off both cases but like a dog with a bone he is not giving it up that easily. Plenty of plot twists and a great leading man make this an excellent read.

Synopsis

The Black Ice by Michael Connelly

When a body is found in a hotel room, the press soon pick up on the case: it appears to be the body of a missing LAPD narcotics officer, apparently gone to the bad. The rumours were that he had been selling a new drug called Black Ice that had been infiltrating Los Angeles from Mexico.

The LAPD are quick to declare the death as a suicide, but Harry Bosch is not so sure. There are odd, unexplained details from the crime scene which just don't add up.

Fighting an attraction to the cop's widow, Bosh starts his own maverick investigation, which soon leads him over the borders, and into a dangerous world of shifting identities and deadly corruption...

About the Author

Michael Connelly

Michael Connelly decided to become a writer after discovering the books of Raymond Chandler while attending the University of Florida. After graduating in 1980, Connelly worked at newspapers in Daytona Beach and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, ending up as a crime reporter for the Los Angeles Times, one of the largest papers in the country, and bringing him to the city of which his literary hero, Chandler, had written.

After three years on the crime beat in L.A., Connelly began writing his first novel to feature LAPD Detective Hieronymus Bosch. The novel, The Black Echo, based in part on a true crime that had occurred in Los Angeles, was published in 1992 and won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel by the Mystery Writers of America. The rest is crime writing history.

He lives in Tampa, Florida, with his wife and daughter.
