Sarah Broadhurst's view...
I can not praise this author and his wonderful creation, Jack Reacher, enough. Every book (and there are nine) is top-rate. This starts with the brutal slaying of five ordinary people, a quick arrest and then the arrival of Jack Reacher … utterly self-sufficient, independent, defender of the weak, laconic, highly intelligent, in fact the ultimate male hero. The plot unfolds at a satisfying pace with plenty of unexpected yet highly plausible twists. Sinister villains lurk, then become fully developed characters, and the tension holds up right to the end of the final showdown, no loose ends anywhere. In fact, as I’ve said, top-rate but then I’m a committed fan. You’ve got to become one too.
Similar this month: Craig Russell, Chris Cleave. Comparison: Harlan Coben, Michael Connelly, A J Quinnell.

Synopsis
One Shot by Lee Child
Six shots. Five dead. One heartland city thrown into terror. But within hours the cops have it solved. A slam-dunk case. Except for one thing. The accused man claims: You got the wrong guy. After that, all he’ll say is: Get Reacher for me. Jack Reacher lives off the grid. Lone righter of wrongs, irresistible to women. What could connect the ex-military cop to this obvious psychopath?
Those who know call Reacher ‘the thinking reader’s action hero’. Sharp, exciting, addictive, One Shot is sure to get you hooked.
