Helen Grace’s third case. She is an interesting character coming from an abused childhood but although that and her two earlier cases are referred to here you don’t really need the knowledge. What is far more intriguing is the relationships within her special unit team in Portsmouth, for these progresses at quite a pace in this book, but again, you can pick the back ground up as you progress. We have a young woman buried in a beach quite early on, probably a couple of years old. We have a kidnapping right at the beginning and it is how these events link that forms the thrust of this excellent police procedure tale. I am a big fan so suggest you enjoy the two earlier thrillers as well. Eeny Meany and Pop Goes the Weasel.

A 'Piece of Passion' from the publisher...

'When I first read Eeny Meeny, MJ Arlidge's incredible debut, I was struck by both the pace of the writing and the invention of the plot.  Alongside that he was able to build a world inhabited by distinctive relatable characters, none more so than his incredible series detective, DI Helen Grace.  The follow up, Pop Goes the Weasel, proved that it was no fluke, but in The Doll's House, the third Helen Grace thriller, MJ Arlidge has upped the ante again.  While never going over old ground, it's still enjoys all the elements that saw the first two books strike such a chord with readers: a terrifying premise, a twisting, adrenaline-fuelled plot, strong, clever characterisation and, ultimately, an unputdownable will they/won't they race-against-time.  It's brilliant.' - Roland White, Editor, Penguin Books
