The First Book in the Fighting Fantasy game book series by Ian Livingston and Steve Jackson

Addictive and impossible to put down would be the quickest way to describe this series of books. Part fantasy story and part strategy game you become part of the book you read. Not unlike the computer games where you are given special powers and skills and you have to complete a task, this series of books has the added benefit (from a parental view) that reading and imaginative skills are honed along side the fighting skills of your imaginary hero. Realistically these books will tend to suit boys more than girls. This is the first in the series and there are now over 20 in the series. Perfect to keep them occupied over the summer holiday.

About the Author

Steve Jackson is a veteran of the games world. Together with Ian Livingstone, the pair founded Games Workshop and created the Fighting Fantasy™ Gamebook series. He is also co-founder of Lionhead Studios ('Black & White') with legendary PC game designer Peter Molyneux.
